Located at coordinates 18.8167, -98.9500, the city sits at an elevation of approximately 1,300 meters (4,265 feet) above sea level, contributing to a cooler climate than surrounding lower-lying areas. The city is situated in a valley, historically influenced by the now-regulated Cuautla River, which once presented significant flooding risks.
