This altitude significantly influences its climate and, consequently, its air quality. The surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic peaks and steep, verdant hills, characteristic of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Parramos isn’t directly adjacent to large bodies of water, though smaller rivers and streams dissect the terrain, originating from higher elevations. The urban-rural gradient is quite sharp; the city core quickly transitions into agricultural lands, primarily small-scale farming of corn, beans, and coffee. While not a major industrial hub, regional brick-making and small workshops contribute to localised emissions.
